We sent him to the Amazon…
We threw him from a plane together with the Bishop…
We nearly excommunicated him…
And now Don Matteo becomes “almost the father” of a 16 year girl, Laura, pregnant in her sixth month, who is bereft of her mother as well as the daughter of a convict. She is the guest of Don Matteo in the rectory. It’s a clash between our priest and the girl who accused him of having ruined her life, sending her father to prison….
But let’s not forget the other star of the series, Nino Frassica, aka Marshal Cecchini, who is grappling with the engagement of his daughter Patricia with his Captain, Giulio Tommasi.
The Marshal is always in a fit of father jealousy and constantly invades the privacy of the couple. But Cecchini is not the only one who interferes. There is also the jealousy of the future mother-in-law, the return of the Captain “ex” and the abrupt separation of Patricia for an internship in Spain… And when the wedding appears imminent, everything is complicated by the arrival of a new prosecutor in Gubbio, Andrea Conti.
Andrea Conti, 30 years, prosecutor, is the latest addition to the series. Her maturity, determination and passion for work, combined with a weakness waiting to be discovered, are the qualities that could confound a man engaged, near to marriage, as our Captain Tommasi.

SEASON 9
SYNOPSIS
Don Matteo is back with the same spirit that has warmed audiences for years. The “big family” is made up of Matteo, officers Cecchini and Tommasi then, in the rectory, Natalina and Pippo, and even Laura, the young, single mother of little Ester, who is not so little anymore.
Just like every family experiences happiness and fulfillment, there are also problems, unexpected events and conflicts to handle and resolve. Don Matteo, everyone’s true point of reference, knows this very well. In fact, Don Matteo hasn’t changed one bit and opens the doors to the rectory to anyone who needs his help. He decides to take in Tomas, a young man who has had several problems with the law and that Sister Maria holds dear. His withdrawn and petulant personality makes staying in the rectory difficult for him to get used to. Even Laura, who frowns upon the arrival of Tomas, is feeling unsatisfied with her life and begins re-evaluating the choices she’s made.
Even the lives of Cecchini and Tommasi have undergone some changes. In fact, the two officers have suffered the effects of the Spending Review and the police station in Gubbio was closed and integrated into the one in Spoleto. Yet this family has even had to overcome the pain of losing Patrizia, who died a few years earlier in a tragic accident, leaving Captain Tommasi all alone to father young Martina.
In Spoleto, however, the Captain comes across an old friend who is about to get married, a public prosecutor by the name of Bianca Venezia. And in the Cecchini household, only to upset the newfound peace, is the arrival of Lia, the Sergeant’s young and exuberant niece who has an amazing talent for getting herself into trouble.
While Cecchini suffers from being so far from his priest friend, Don Matteo is asked to take on a new assignment right in the parish of Spoleto, where, together with all the inhabitants of the rectory, he is reunited with the Sergeant, ready to resolve new cases together!

SEASON 10
SYNOPSIS
“Don Matteo” is a family, a really large family actually.
The number of seasons of this TV series is rising in number as are the members of this TV family. There’s Don Matteo, police officers Cecchini, Tommasi and Severino, Natalina and Pippo in the rectory and now Laura, a young single mother, Ester, Laura’s little girl, young Tomas and many others.
As in every large family, joy and satisfaction are accompanied by problems, conflict and pain to confront and resolve. Yet most of all, there are unexpected situations…
Don Matteo knows this very well and is everyone’s point of reference.
He knows this because…
… the new “Don Matteo” series is full of unexpected and new situations, which all come with names: Alberto, Daniele, Sabrina, Margherita, Gualtiero…
But let’s go in order.
By now the rectory has a soundtrack that plays over and over again- the constant bickering between Laura and Tomas. Each of them say they cannot stand the other, but it is obvious they really like each other…a lot. Yet it is going to take time –a lot of time- before they admit it. Meanwhile, life goes on…and they meet new people…
Laura meets Alberto, a brilliant young math professor that courts her. Tomas, instead, meets Sabrina.
Sabrina is a young woman in prison. Don Matteo is the first to meet her and promises to help her. He suggests she use her day releases to work at Tomas’ airfield…
Just who is Sabrina anyway? A very young woman with a terrible inner wound. She is in prison for the attempted murder of her mother, an accusation that has marked her life and caused her family to turn away from her, maybe even forever. Sabrina has tenaciously erected a façade around her that only the patience gaze of Don Matteo can slowly begin to chisel away.
What about Tommasi? The last time we saw him he did not know whether to choose Bianca or Lia, but now his heart beats for only one girl- Lia.
When Lia returns from Rome in her police uniform, more beautiful than ever, Tommasi is star struck. The two of them waited much too long, but now they can and must realize their dream of being together… if it were not for Lia’s boyfriend Daniele, an impulsive and enthusiastic artist that is trying to persuade Lia to leave her job and move to Miami.
Tommasi faces a new situation at work too.
The new prosecutor, Gualtiero Ferri, detests him and says Tommasi is only working there because of his connections. Needless to say, the two are constantly at odds. The only good thing about this new prosecutor is his girlfriend Margherita, who Tommasi becomes very close friends with… maybe even too close…
The new and tenth season of the “Don Matteo” series unfolds in an atmosphere of crime, mystery, tears as well as laughter, romance and happiness, promising all new emotions for its affectionate fans.

SEASON 11
SYNOPSIS
There is a lot of excitement in Spoleto over the new Captain’s arrival.
Marshal Cecchini is on edge as he stands in front of the Carabineer station, lacking the courage to go inside. Just then Don Matteo arrives.
He tells Cecchini not to be upset that Tommasi left. The new Captain will surely appreciate Cecchini’s significant expertise. Cecchini is finally convinced and walks inside to meet the new, young Captain… who, surprisingly is a woman! Anna Olivieri, one of the very few woman officers on the force.
Anna has just arrived in Spoleto to fulfill two dreams- to hold the position of Captain and be with her longtime boyfriend, Giovanni Santucci, a bright young lawyer. Now that they are living in the same city, they can finally take the next big step. The only thing is, Giovanni is thinking about taking a different kind of “big step” in his life. He wants to become a priest. Anna holds Don Matteo responsible for this decision.
Anna’ sister, Chiara, studies at the University of Perugia. Contrary to Anna, Chiara is ditzy, a bit frivolous and dedicates more time to make-up than to her studies. While Anna has always had to hide her feminine side behind her uniform, Chiara has always used her femininity to her advantage. The two women are so different, yet so close they would do anything to help one another.
In addition to Anna, there are two other new ‘guests’ at the carabineer station. First, there’s Marco Nardi, the new Public Prosecutor. He is good looking, sophisticated and well-trained at his job, but always ready with a snappy and often razor-sharp comeback, especially when it comes to women. He seems to be quite the male chauvinist, even though his cynicism hides a deep wound. The new prosecutor immediately butts heads with Captain Anna, weaving a relationship with her built on dislike, respect, friendship and finally… love?
In the background, we have Corporal Romeo Zappavigna. Loyal, bright and precise even when things go awry, he naturally becomes Captain Anna’s favorite. This obviously irks Marshal Cecchini to the point in which every now and then he engages in some pleasant harassment of his own. Zappavigna even begins a relationship with Assuntina, Cecchini’s daughter, news the Marshal does not take lightly.
Another newcomer in Cecchini’s life is Cosimo, a little boy with no mother and a fugitive father. Cosimo is also the son of the woman involved in the accident that took the life of Cecchini’s daughter Patrizia, and the man is initially hostile towards the boy. With the help of Don Matteo, who decides to welcome the boy into the rectory, the Marshal becomes attached to Cosimo, who is desperately in search of a father.
Meanwhile, Don Matteo welcomes Sofia into the rectory too. Sofia is only sixteen and has lost everything, her house and her parents. She does not want to stay in Spoleto. Her life is in Rome and she will do anything to go back. Don Matteo’s extraordinary interpersonal (and investigative) skills lead him to the truth about Sofia… she was adopted and her guardian had brought her to Spoleto to bring her closer to her birth mother, Rita Levi, the gym teacher at Sofia’s high school.
Rita is also the one responsible for organizing visitors for Alice, a girl who fell into a coma after a hit-and-run crash. They call her “Sleeping Beauty” and her friends take turns keeping her company, sitting by her, speaking to her and making her feel loved. It was mostly Alice’s parents who asked for the visitors because they believe it will do their daughter good. Taking advantage of this situation, Sofia meets Alice and becomes friends with Seba, Alice’s boyfriend. He wants to see Alice too, to be near her and speak to her, but Alice’s parents won’t allow it. They hold him in some way responsible for the accident. Their daughter had gone to that party with him and it was “his responsibility” to bring her back safe and sound. Instead, Alice had walked home all by herself. Sofia is moved by the situation and decides to help Seba get close to Alice… that is, until something more than friendship blossoms between her and Seba. Now what if Alice wakes up?
Seba must decide who he wants to be with- Alice, who he feels responsible for and who takes advantage of this weak spot of his to keep him by her side, or Sofia, the girl he is surprisingly getting closer and closer to, but is complicated and distant?
Even Anna must face her true feelings. After her great disappointment with Giovanni, she becomes closer to Marco and the conditions between them seem favorable for a romantic love story… until Chiara, Anna’s sister, comes to Spoleto and falls for Marco herself! Anna is unable to voice her emotions and Marco is caught up in Chiara’s charm. Meanwhile, Giovanni realizes he isn’t really cut out for priesthood and asks Anna to marry him. Yet Anna’s heart now belongs to Marco and when Chiara realizes that Marco is also in love with her sister, Anna and Marco are finally able to live out their love story.
Things are more complicated for Rita. She needs to recover from being raped, find the strength to forgive her aggressor and start being the mother Sofia needs.
And Don Matteo? As always, he watches over all the characters, helping them, encouraging them and making decisions that are sometimes difficult, but which always come from the heart.

SEASON 13
SYNOPSIS
After more than 250 episodes, at the end of the twelfth series, a legitimate question arises: why a new season of Don Matteo?
Because “Don Matteo” is more than a series, it is a large family, known and loved by Italian families.
Because it does not cease to enchant the audience with its unique blend of mystery and comedy, lightness and drama.
Because we need a positive look on the world and its contradictions, like the one that our characters know how to bring.
But above all, because it can be a new opportunity.
An opportunity to go further, exploring issues that are new and cross-cutting for all generations.
Without betraying its audience and its soul, through the format of mystery cases Don Matteo 13 can continue to turn its gaze on current issues that affect society and our way of life, highlighting moral problems and contradictions, without ever losing the hope and the serenity that distinguish our series.
As now almost a ‘format’, often these issues will closely concern young people: Don Matteo can continue to give us a key to storytelling in a strong, but at the same time positive and balanced way, the problems that affect adolescents and their relationship with their parents and with the adult world in general.
In this new series, in fact, Don Matteo will welcome to the Rectory Federico, a seventeen-year-old with a difficult past: abandoned again by his mother, now all he wants is to take care of his brother Clementino, a newborn of only a few months. Thanks to his meeting with Don Matteo, but also thanks to Greta, one of his classmates who has had a complicated childhood, this gruff and short-tempered boy will learn to manage his emotions, as well as believing that miracles are possible.
But Don Matteo 13 is also an opportunity to introduce new characters to the arena of the series and at the same time to tell something more about those already known and that we believe we already know perfectly.
Starting with Don Matteo, of course… In this new series we will see him in difficulty, struggling with a fresh wound that forces him to reflect on his being the spiritual father of everyone and dealing with those emotions that he had always been able to keep at bay: pain, anger, the sense of helplessness. But it is precisely in difficult moments that new aspects of his character emerge: fallibility, a paternal feeling, but also an unshakable hope in the future.
But Don Matteo would not be Don Matteo without his constant allies/antagonists: the Carabinieri.
The barracks of Spoleto, between one investigation and another, is now the second home of Marshal Cecchini, as well as of Captain Anna Olivieri and of Public Prosecutor Marco Nardi. And that’s how we had left them: Marco had finally obtained Anna’s forgiveness, but not her love. She had instead decided to get involved with Sergio, forgiving his mistakes and waiting for him to serve his sentence. What now?
Now Anna and Marco are friends. Anna has arranged everything for the arrival of Sergio, ready to start a new life with him and Ines, who in the last months has lived with Don Matteo in the rectory, and Nardi, who, in order to keep Anna in his life, has ‘settled for’ being her best friend. But things are never so simple and a thousand complications await these two.
And of all these complications, one has a very specific name: Valentina, Colonel Anceschi’s daughter, Cecchini’s goddaughter, who moves to Spoleto to try to get her life back on track. Valentina hides a wound, a secret that wears her down emotionally, but Cecchini will help her move forward and discover who she truly is. Nardi will also approach her, rediscovering sides of himself that he did not remember having, and that perhaps are the ones that made Anna fall in love with him in the first place …
In short, Don Matteo 13 remains faithful to itself, continuing the journey in today’s life and society, but is renewed, thanks to the arrival of a new character. The spiritual son of Don Matteo, to whom our priest will pass the baton, who will have to show that he is capable of having that irreducible and positive outlook and that conviction that it is always possible to change and forgive, qualities that have always characterised Don Matteo.
